Age: twenty-five.
Height: 5’4”.
Weight: 52.3 kg.
Hair Color: naturally black.
Eye Color: dark.
Body Mods:
Piercings: multiple ear piercings, lower lip piercing, nose piercing, right brow piercing. Tattoos: countless small tattoos on his stomach, chest, back, and arms.
Flaws:
`` SUGOI is well known for his Hedonistic lifestyle. He loves to drink, smoke, and party, and close friends fear that this might eventually be his downfall.
`` An obvious problem that SUGOI struggles with is that his knowledge of the English language is less than stellar, due to his slacking off in primary school. Despite the fact that he can speak Japanese very well, he has a strong accent and a relatively small vocabulary. He never has trouble getting his point across, and he can communicate to those around him, but he often uses a translator.
Likes:
martial arts, meditation, lucky strikes, his little sister, crazy couture, green tea, women, instant noodles, swords, old kung-fu movies, the united states of america, sushi, pizza, make-up, music (especially american blues), sex, sunglasses, his cat, partying, sleeping, making trouble (pranks), alcohol, tight clothing, video games, bright colors, nintendo ds, soap operas, tabloids, baseball, comic books, romance novels.
Dislikes:
forks, spoons, cops, overweight people, buzz killers, gossip, american fast food, dogs, uptight people, his father, coffee, school, the poorly dressed, reality television, the new car smell, tidy rooms, fireworks, douche bags.
Talents:
`` His sense of humor is one of SUGOI's strongpoints. Ever the trickster and prankster, he loves to be the center of attention. This is evident in his onstage antics that are more often than not humorous (if not a little vulgar).
`` SUGOI is the ultimate showman. He has a way of commanding a crowed, and has a very lovable personality. He loves to preform, and people love to watch him perform; this is why he is so good at what he does.
`` Back in Japan, famous Japanese composer Uematsu Nobuo called SUGOI a musical prodigy. His ear for music is great, often able to play a song by ear after hearing it a few times. He is also very voracious when it comes to learning about music (ironically, because of his distaste for learning in the conventional sense), which has lead him to learn how to play a number of instruments.
`` SUGOI loves dealing with children, most likely because of his childish (more aptly immature) personality. He enjoys the company of little kids, a rare trait in people his age.
Status: SUGOI is the lead guitaristfor his band, but he also plays the shamisen for select songs. Although he only plays those two instruments for his band, due to his classical upbringing he also can play the piano, cello, and various other instruments.
History:
In the world of international business, few men are wealthier and better known than the billionaire CEO of the Hasegawa Zaibatsu, Hasegawa Soichiro. Based in Tokyo, the Hasegawa Zaibatsu was founded in the seventeenth century in feudal Japan, with humble beginnings as merchant house, eventually becoming a large multinational conglomerate. The company controls dozens of subsidiaries, such as HaseTech, a research and development facility that creates most of the cutting edge technology on the street, Ronin Weapons Corp., a subsidiary that manufactures and develops weapons and sells them to countries, and KazeFoods, which controls a number of Japanese food restaurants across the United States. In a way, it seems that there are very few industries that the Hesegawa Zaibatsu doesn’t control, or at least dabble in. This includes the music industry, as the Hasegawa Zaibatsu is the primary owner of the Hasegawa Record Label.
Over twenty years ago, Soichiro's record label would acquire an up and coming Enka singer, a woman with an enchanting voice named Kaneda Yoko. Miss Kaneda's looks and voice would prove to be too much for the normally cold and distant Soichiro, and it wasn't long before he would begin a romantic relationship with the woman.
And it was into this situation a baby was born, the first son and eldest child of Hasegawa Soichiro and his lover, Yoko, named Kyokutei after his great grandfather, who was the mentor of his father. Despite some minor complications after his birth, the young heir to the Hasegawa Zaibatsu would be a healthy and intelligent little boy, who often found himself getting into mischief. The boy showed an early love for music. His father and mother would marry before the birth of their second child, a girl.
At a very young age, his mother wanted him to become well versed in both classical Eastern and Western music, learning to play the violin, piano, and shamisen at a young age. He loved his music more than he loved his school work, and would find himself slacking off in school so that he could become a better musician.
But his father was strict, brutally strict to be exact. In order for his son to take over both of the family businesses, he would have to be the closest thing to perfection a human being could be- efficient, intelligent, and quick on his feet. Now Kyo was remarkably intelligent and wise beyond his years, but he was also quite lazy and did poorly in classes, often procrastinating and relying on others to do the job for him. Obviously the boy could not always meet his fathers impossible standards, which often lead to family turmoil and his eventual being purged from the household and forced to live on his own at the young age of fourteen.
For the first time in his life, Kyo would have to fend for himself, finding shelter in at a relative's home. His older cousin was an aspiring musician, who played the guitar for a small time band in the Sendai area. It wasn't long before the young boy picked up his cousin's guitar, and taught himself how to play it, quickly becoming a fan of American blues music, and Japanese Visual Kei.
At the age of fifteen, Kyo would become the cofounder of a band called "The Queens of Sendai", featuring a few of his peers at the local junior high. Aside from him, the band consisted of all female members. The band generally went nowhere, with little direction and no goals. They played one show, a local talent show, which would display his unique style and skills to a much older band called Gekka no Seido, who was looking for a guitarist after the departure of their former singer/guitarist, who went on to becoming a television personality.
This same year, Kyo would be allowed to return home, where he would drop an all too expected bombshell- he wanted to follow in his mother's footsteps as a musician instead of his father's footsteps as a businessman. His father was unhappy, but allowed the boy to continue living in his home assuming that it was just a phase he was going through.
Kyo would take on the name SUGOI, becoming the unlikely frontman for Gekka no Seido, and dropped out of school to tour with the band full time. Needless to say, his father was furious, not only for ruining his own life, but apparently the life of his young sister who wanted to become a musician like her older brother. The public, however would take a liking to the pint sized front man of the adult band.
Before long, a then seventeen-year-old SUGOI would leave his old band to begin his solo career. Needless to say, he would become massively successful, and because of his style, good looks and talent, he gained a huge fan base in his home country.
After a failed attempt to form a 'super group' with other Japanese artists, began to worry that he had already reached the peak of the mountain at age twenty. He wanted to expand his horizons and see the world. Mainly the United States of America, home of most of his musical influences. Being disconnected from his mother and father since the beginning of his musical career, there was only his sister to prevent the move, and she was supportive of his decision to move on.
With his vision in mind, SUGOI journeyed to the United States. His idea? To comb the country for the most talented unknowns to form an American “Visual Kei” band, consisting of talented musicians who can all play a multitude of instruments. Knowing the best way to achieve this goal, the Japanese superstar signed to Pyromania Records, and spent the next year in search of his band. He was successful in building his vision, and just as planned, the band has been thus far successful.
Personality:
SUGOI’s personality is not one easily described, as he is a very complex person. If he could be described as anything, it would be fun loving, however on the same note his is dedicated and strong willed. When it comes to people, he is the ultimate people person. Due to his easygoing nature, it isn't very hard for him to get people to like him. He is simply a performer by nature, and because of this he is adored. To put it simply, SUGOI is quite the little attention whore.
SUGOI is himself. He acts according to the rules in his own mind and because of this he can at times seem a bit out of touch. He decides what it is that he cares about, and it is hard to convince him that anything else is of any importance. He’ll do anything for the sake of proving himself right, most likely a psychological lashing out at his father. This is evident in his apparent dislike and distrust of older, stricter, people in charge and his apparent inability to respond to authority. At the same time though, he enjoys the company of these people and welcomes their criticism, feeling that it is the fuel that powers his engine- pushing him further and further.
He can be said to be ill-mannered and discourteous, most likely because of the lack of balance in his personality. SUGOI does however, enjoy being close to others. He enjoys physical contact, and at times seems flirtatious. He loves women to the fullest extent of the word. Women of all kinds. At times, this can lead him to be a bit of a womanizer.
There’s also a coolness and aloofness about him – as if he does not belong amongst normal people. He is eccentric and loves to take risks, whether it be in fashion, music, or in life in general. At the same time, it comes off as a near perfect act - a blanket pulled over the ugliness of his ‘soul’, over the imperfections and void. He's recovered, but not healed. He's okay with it - worse things have happened to others and worse things will happen to him. However, when put under extreme pressure, that lovable ball of personality can be broken down, and is likely to retreat.
He has the utmost respect for Americans and American music, which is why he found it necessary to come all the way here to start what he calls a legitimate musical career. He idolizes a number of American musicians and incorporates their style into his own. Despite this however, rumor has is that that SUGOI is a bit racist, more in a humorous manner than an ignorant way.
