History:
Taryn spent the majority of her younger years in Edinburgh, Scotland. Growing up, she didn't know much about her biological dad. While Taryn was still too young for her memory to kick in, her dad would beat up her mother, May Scott, to the point where it was practically nightly. One night when little Taryn was only 3 when she walked in on her father standing over her beaten down mother. He raised his fist against the little girl and that was when her mother gained the strength that she needed to stand against the man. As the police report states, her mother pulled out the hand gun that she had hidden under the bed frame. They filed the action under self-defense. It probably helped that her best friend for five years was in the police force, Davis Black.
After the incident, it took about two years before her mother could even think about moving on. In that time, she had taken a few self defense classes. When she was ready to move on from her past, her police friend asked her out. Months went by and Davis proposed to May. Due to this marriage, it seemed that May and Taryn became financially set for life. Taryn adored Davis as if he was her real father. He wanted the best for her so what ever her interest laid in, he and her mother let her pursue it. By the age of 7, she was enrolled in a dance school, where she remained up into the age of 18. Taryn studied ballet, hip hop, and just the general classic dances. When she was fifteen, she was presented with her first guitar, her Takamine. She learned on her own most of the chords and how to put them together into a song. In fact, that was how she approached most things that was related to music. She picked up the instrument and slowly learned how to master it on her own. It even worked with her vocal chords.
On her 19th birthday, she told her parents that she wished to travel abroad and pursue a music career. They knew that she would go to open mic nights and sing for the small audiences in the bars and what not. Not only that but she exceeded in choir in school. Her parents were very hesitant but agreed to send her to Los Angeles. Taryn spent a few months there, searching for band mates, singing low time gigs for very low time pay. After roughing it in that city, she followed a lead to New York City. Auditioning for Pyromania records, she demonstrated her variety of vocal ranges as well as her instrumental talent. Being signed by someone finally was the best feeling in her life. Renting an apartment in the city, she settled in the life of a bandless singer. As of now, she is looking for band mates to join in to suit her alternative rock style.
Personality:
Taryn's personality ranges through the settings one sees her in. In her relaxed apartment setting, she would be rather quiet and thoughtful. Day to day, she can be found working on her newest songs or just practicing her instruments so as to not become rusty. Taryn is studious when she is in the zone. If she is not working on music, she's reading. Being a passionate reader is one of her strong qualities. Her collection of books is varied, from simple teen books to science fiction, biographies, and even sappy romances. Some of her favorites include Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons.
Besides her book smart intellect and her passion for music, Taryn has been known to be quite compassionate for those less fortunate than her. To keep her life going in NYC, she volunteers at a local soup kitchen and a pet shelter. She really gains an innocent and good-girl reputation from just these actions alone. Even though it can be a bad trait to be known as a goody too shoes, she doesn't care.
While most people only get to know that side of her, she does have more to her than that innocent shell. She has been known to get into a few rough tumbles with girls, though admittedly, most hadn't been her fault. The tumbles usually came about while being protective of her friends. It is no secret that she's loyal and protective of most people in her life. Taryn also has a temper, but it takes a lot to get her to that breaking point. She has the ability to remain calm and cool-hearted, though even the toughest turtles get their shells broken.
